gZip doesn't seem to be working? Any ideas?

I have gZip enabled and have checked my website at a gzip checking site and it's not showing that it is compressing. I have

gzip enabled on the server, what else needs to be in place for this option to work (besides enabling it in admin)?

Yes, I've seen that thread and it didn't help out any. I did see on there a quick mention of Windows servers not having that option (at least that's what I got from the statement), which is what my store is run on. Does that sound right?
