Hi all,

Is it possible to add osCommerce to an existing website without using the store front or templates.

All I am looking for is the shopping cart software as an addon.

Would appreciate your feedback and/or being pointed in the right direction for more reading material on the above mentioned point if available.

Thanks in advance

I always respond to this in the same way .. oscommerce is a fully functional and website and shop .. it can run your shop .. be your website .. there are thousands of contributions to make it into whatever you wish.

What it isn't is something that can be an "addon" to simple html pages.

There is a wealth of informtion on these forums .. why not download oscommerce .. read up on the basics of templating (there are even contributions for this) then theme it to match your old html.

Found this post while searching for the same thing. The issue arises that while OS Commerce is a great store, it can't compare with the likes of say, Typolight for front end management. I have yet to see an e-commerce solution that had a sufficient system for over-all web page design. Sure, your products are easy to manage, but the rest of your site can end up a nightmare. I would think it's better to have an e-commerce solution give the option of handling JUST the cart and products and leave the site design to systems that are designed for such a thing.

There are "other sources" out there that will enjoy emptying your wallet. This is "open source" (FREE). It will do all that you need it to do, and the support here is also "FREE"!!!!

As FWR Media suggested above, there are osCommerce add-ons that will make your shop "design" friendly. Try the Simple Template System (STSv4.5.8).
