How to change header size?

I have bought a template which I liked, but the header is huuuge....

So I would like to know how I change the height of it so I can make it fit a smaller sized image?

( I don't mean the logo in the admin, but in the store itself)

 

I have tried to search for a solution and tested myself, but I can't figure it out.

The header usually consists of an image so you would need to replace that image with one that has less height.

But when I do that, the rest of the page doesn't follow, it leaves a white stripe under the logo.

So i need to know what to change to make the stuff underneath the logo follow upwards.

that image might have a height and width attribute..so if you resize it then you need to see in which file the image is and modify the height and width too

I have checked the header.php, tried to resize it, didn't help... I also checked the css file, but didn't really get where I could change anything concerning the header size...

Check the code in header.php to make sure there isn't a size set for the image or the table it is in. If there is, either delete or change it, or adjust the image to fit it.
