willToDo Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Hi All I have installed my online store up to the point were I have to import my database to my server. I created a blank database and a user on my hosting account. The problem is I cannot get access to my server. I have contacted my hosting provider thinking it was may be incorrect details that I had entered on the database input screen but my provider says "osCommerce is NOT php5 compatible, it needs to be modified before it will work on PHP5, has your oscommerce store been modified?" Does anyone know how I can modify my store? I am new to osCommerce and your help is appreciated.
Viper0409 Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Hi willToDo Your hosting provider is referring to your version of oscommerce. If it is osCommerce version MS2 2.2 you will have to upgrade to RC1 or the latest version RC2a. I hope this helps.
GemRock Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 your host is talking about rubbish. whatever version of osc in general does NOT have a problem with php5 except there may be a few places that need changed if the version is older than rc1a/rc2a. and why database server access has anything to do with osc version/php version? complete nonsense. for anyone who are serious about osc, your first thing to do is look for a host that knows oscommerce. Ken thank you for your contribution. I chose this provider cause I was led to believe that it was eCommerce ready. "Our UK Web Hosting is fully compatible with: EROL Shopping cart, X-Cart shopping cart, Actinic Shopping Cart, Pay pal Shopping Cart , Zen Cart shopping cart, Cube Cart shopping cart, OScommerce shopping cart, Click Cart Pro Shopping Cart, Plus many many more...." I am using the rc2a version of osCommerce are there any changes that I need to do?
