Payment stuck on 'pending' - desperate!

Have set up PayPal standard and my orders process successfully in PayPal, except that Customers download link to their e-book purchase will not appear. Order Status is stuck on 'pending'

 

Have set up downloads in Admin to enable downloads. Have disabled download by redirect (have Linux server and Win XP)

Have stated the file download name in product attributes and checked file permisssions .... and still I can't get it to work! No download link is given to the customer.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Admin panel ---> Localization --> Order Status

 

There you can configure it.

Have a look in the contributions section. there are several for downloads. I am currently running a site using downloads controller, and it works fine.
