Category's picture on home page instead of products

Hi everybody.

 

First of all any help is highly appreciated.

 

Is it possible to have lets say the categorie's images on home page. By default oscomemrce displays the products. I would like to have lets' say 10 categories, then after clicking on one category , i would like to be taken to its subcategories and then to the products in that subcategory. Is this possible?

 

If yes, please advise how.
