aetherboxx
My girlfriend has gone into business for herself (florist) and I'm responsible for her image/technology needs - including her website. Rather than wasting a bunch of time writing code, I've decided to use osCommerce and just customize/build on top of it. A couple of questions have come to mind and I'm looking for some advice. 1) There are two aspects to this business, (a) physical retail shop and (B) online ecommerce site. Customer/order information will be required/stored in a database in each aspect and I'm looking for potential ways to merge (integrate) the two systems. Would it make the most sense to just use the same mySQL database used by osCommerce for the retail shop? My only concern with this approach would be that if the internet connection is down, you can't access the data. Any thoughts? (Or should I direct to this question to a mySQL forum?) 2) In terms of CC processing, are there any "all inclusive" services that would provide: (a) online cc/debit processing, (B) electronic check processing and © some type of "virtual terminal" service to accept payment in-person, over the phone or by mail? I'm trying to avoid having to purchase a card processing terminal by using the same solution as the website. Suggestions/recommendations? 3) Obviously, I'd like to make the site as secure as possible. I've read several posts about addons for blocking injections, IP trapping and cross site scripting, so I should be fine in this department. When it comes to PCI compliance however, I imagine there are numerous monitoring services available. Which service(s) can everyone recommend? Thanks for any insight on these questions!
