♥altoid
I am still in the experimenting stage with an osCommerce store I am working on. I understand the concept of using attributes and see there are contributions that support attribute use. I started using these but after a while I found I had dozens of these for just several of my items and it was getting a bit overwhelming. Our products are dog clothes, here's the store Bark Avenue Pet Shop and for just one jersey type there are up to 10 size options. So apparently, that's 10 product attributes per type of jersey. I will have several dozen jersey types when I am done. I've since learned I can use Easy Populate to expedite the entry process. On the other hand I could list the jersey 10 times in all sizes, and with Easy Poplulate that's fairly quick. Anyway, I am looking for guidance from experiences osCommerce store managers on the pros and cons of listing using attributes or just individually, as in my case one listing/size. I am wondering about quantity/stock management, implications with SEO and such. Thanks in advance Steve I am not a professional webmaster or PHP coder by background or training but I will try to help as best I can. I remember what it was like when I first started with osC. It can be overwhelming. However, I strongly recommend considering hiring a professional for extensive site modifications, site cleaning, etc. There are several good pros here on osCommerce. Look around, you'll figure out who they are.
spooks
I'd have thought atribute would be best/easiest way to go If an item comes in 10 different sizes, thats one attribute for size, not 10? ♥altoid
Sam, thanks for responding. Yes, that would be one attribute, with 10 options. After pondering this a bit and I am going to go with using attriubutes rather than individual listings. Seems more efficient in the long run. I see that QT Pro helps manage quantities by attribute, I will probably use that contrib. Thanks and thanks for the FCKEditor Thtml tip, that really is working well.
