Missing images after install

Hi folks.. New to all this, I've installed oSCommerce v2.2 through my server's CPANEL and all went well.. Unfortunately I am running into a head scratcher here..

While in the Admin side of things and setting up a few items to test the set up, all icons, images and displays show up properly..

However when I go to the visitor side of the page, all I get is the blank box red dot, no images showing, either from the iSCommerce or from the ones I uploaded. When I look at the source page code, it shows the images to be "img src="images/header_cart.gif" for example.. When I look at where the sale page is sitting, "images" folder is child to the sale folder so this code is correct and the file is in that folder and the permissions are set at 777. I've gone as far as downloading the folder and re-upping it in binary but to no avail.

I get this all browsers.. Admin pages look great, buyer page looks terrible..?

Any suggestions? Did I miss a "rtfm" step somewhere?

Thanks in advance.. I couldn't find anything in the searches here..

Cheers

Did you really uploaded images in BINARY mode? Sometimes packages in cPanel (Fantastico etc.) are somehow broken and this will cause really weird effects (cannot see images at all or images are showing as a "binary pudding"). Try to download pure OsC package from OsC site, unzip it and upload images from that package in BINARY mode to your server. I had same problem with one customer's site at few months ago and this trick helped.

Well by looking at the site with XP instead of Vista64, I go the error 12263 which is an SSL error which lead me to look at the page code, and then do another search for info..

OK I found out what was wrong, fixed it a bit but not sure what's the what.. The web page source code shows Base Ref as being https which I don't have an SSL for it.. So I think that means I can't have it showing a httpS.. ? something like that?

So I went into the include/configure.php and changing the line define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'http:// to not show it as https

and now all the images show..

If I understand how all this works properly is that I would need to install a SSL certificate to the server in order to have the wee little padlock image on the bottom of the browser to show a secure connection to process a credit card.. Once I have a certificate installed and working then I can change the configure.php code to what it's supposed to be and everything should work? sort of?

trying to figure out how to do the "shipping options" with this..

Thanks for the assist..
