billk1radius
I have a Zone Tax Class set (Michigan State Sales Tax for those who order our products in Michigan since we are here) and it seems to work but the only way I can see to configure this is so it show the Item prices with the Sales Tax already added in. Is there a way to show the item prices only with the Tax as an add-on in the Sub-Total?

Is there a way to show the item prices only with the Tax as an add-on in the Sub-Total? I was wrestling with state sales tax today too. I found these instructions in another post and they worked. Just be sure to select the "tax class" for each product. Follow these instructions exactly (except replace CA with MI of course) ... good luck. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to make it charge the sales tax on shipping fees too. Any suggestions? Anyway, here are the instructions for setting up state sales tax: ---------------------------------- Step 1: Log into the OSCommerce Admin Panel. Go to “Locations / Taxes” ---> “Tax Zones” ---> “Insert” button “Zone Name” box = type in “United States”. Then in the “Description” box type whatever you like such as “USA”. Click the “Insert” button. Step 2: Now you will see “United States” in the “Tax Zones” column. Click on the yellow folder graphic beside the words “United States”. You should see “displaying 0 to 0". Click the “Insert” button. In the “Country Code” pull down menu choose “United States”. In the “Zone” drop down menu choose “California”. Next click the “insert” button. Step 3: Click the “Tax Classes”. You should see “displaying 0 of 0”. Click the “New Tax Class” button. In the “Tax Class Title” box type something that would properly represent the state/country you are applying tax to. This is important because this is what will be displayed live during the check out process so if you type “cat fazzy” it will say “cat frizzy tax” followed by the percentage rate (to be determined in the next step). So for California you should type “CA” or “California”. Next the “description” box you can type whatever. Next click the “Insert” button. Step 4: Click the “Tax Rates”. You should see “displaying 0 of 0”. Click “New Tax Rate” button. IN the “Tax Class Title” pull down menu choose your names title, ie “CA” or “California”. In the “Zone” pull down choose “United States”. Next in the “Tax Rate” box type the rate, ie 7.75 (you must check your county/city to find out what this number should be). Next in the “description” box type anything that would help you identify this. Next in the “Priority” box type in the number “0”.

Actually I had dug around a lot and got this working about when I received your replay  The key for me was getting the naming exactly right in the Tax Class for Michigan... I used Michigan where I needed MI and vice versa and when I changed that it all came together - and of course setting False for Showing Tax for Each Item in the main setup helped too... Sorry we don't tax on shipping - have not tried that... If I see something on it I will let you know as I still have work to do to complete our site going forward!
