OsCommerce Email Problems.

Hello all

I recently moved server and while I'm in the process of ironing out some issues, something that has cropped up in the past 24 hours is bugging me. I need to get it fixed asap.

Problem is while emails go out properly to web based emails address such as gmail.com etc, they are not being sent to ISP hosted address e.g. [email protected]

So when I create an account or place an order using my private college mail account I don't get anything back from OsCommerce.

But when I do the same from my gmail account, the account confirmation emails / forgotten password email / order confirmation emails work just fine. They all come through without a hassle.

I have sent an email from the admin side to my college email account and while I get the confirmation message from OsCommerce at the top of the screen to say that the email was successfully sent, I get nothing through. I have double checked the spam folders etc and there is nothing being held in there from my domain.

Now here's another problem I have. When i moved server I experienced huge problems which I believe were down to the fact that I was running an old store, 2.2MS2 and on my new server with PHP5 and MySQL5...this caused a lot of problems for me especially in the back end of the store. I got someone in..who was able to fix it and it works fine now (except for email issue)..so now I have a header on the top of any admin page I'm in that says "OsCOmmerce v2.2 RC2a" but when I check my 'includes/applications_top.php file it still says OsCommerce 2.2MS2....

Anyway i have noticed a few changes in my admin area such as 'Preview Item' which I didn't have before so I believe that part or all of my site was upgraded.

So while trying to find a solution to this problem I came across person who was experiencing the exact same problem. his solution was "There were no A records set up for the mail server.

Many sites configure their mail servers to reject mail from hostnames that don't resolve properly, in order to cut down on spam so the headers were being rejected by pop accounts. I put in proper records and VOILA"

Do you think this could be a solution for me? I am hosting my own store on a dedicated server. (Cloud Platform using CentOs). I have already had to set up the NS DNS records for my shop, and the MX records, but when it comes to 'A' records, I don't have a clue.

I have no contributions added regarding my mail. The mails on my old server always sent - no problem. Which is suggesting that this email issue is a problem with my server as opposed to OsCommerce. BUt still i need help fixing it. In the admin/configuration/email options I have tried sendmail option and SMTP option. But still I have this problem.

Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
