Freedom Fighter Posted February 2, 2003 Posted February 2, 2003 Hey All, Here is the new design by: Dreamscape on the forums.. Check it out at: http://www.extremealterations.com Give me feedback :) Extreme Alterations
CC Posted February 2, 2003 Posted February 2, 2003 I like it, although it is a little too blocky for my taste. The overall look is quite cool. But it is very very slow for me on a 1mb line. But I am on the otherside of the pond to you. Good job tho. How long from start to finish to do this one then guys?? Well done and nice job. Said it before, and will say it again, You got a good future ahead of you Alex. CC.
CC Posted February 2, 2003 Posted February 2, 2003 One little thing. I am not keen on the size of the text in the Product Info & Product Description headings on product info page. They look like tey have been made for the hard of sight ppl. :) Maybe they could be a tad smaller. CC.
burt Posted February 2, 2003 Posted February 2, 2003 Nice work. I like it much better than the old version of your store. The "pageHeading" class could do with being made smaller as CC mentioned. Also on the Product's Description image, it should read Products Description, not product's Description. Pedant ;) Maybe there is a bit too much blue in the header graphic ? It's a little overpowering. The footer is too big also, why not have all the Card images on one line, and the © and powered by on another line below it. Instead of 4 lines as it is right now. Overall, very nice work. I'd also be interested to know how long this took to build, as I've just worked out in my head what I would bill out (in hours, not price), and I'd be very interested to know what hours your designer (Dreamscape IIRC) spent on it
dreamscape Posted February 2, 2003 Posted February 2, 2003 Also on the Product's Description image, it should read Products Description, not product's Description. Pedant ;) Burt, I am no english major but it should be "Product's Description"... it is possessive. look at it like this... it is the description of that product; hence product's description. burt Posted February 2, 2003 Posted February 2, 2003 I'm unsure as in English usage, product's description == product is description So should it be: product's description products' description products description product description I'd go for the last one.
rseigel Posted February 2, 2003 Posted February 2, 2003 Product's Description is correct. (My wife's an English major so I am too since she corrects me all the bloody time.  ) Products' Description would be if there was more than one product. Products Description isn't correct. Product Description would work too (and would be my choice).
burt Posted February 2, 2003 Posted February 2, 2003 I stand corrected :) It doesn't look right though...
dreamscape Posted February 2, 2003 Posted February 2, 2003 I'm unsure as in English usage, product's description == product is description where I come from, you can only make contractions with pronouns (I, he, she, etc)... she's == she is, etc.. I am quite sure it is correct english grammar as is. for example if I were describing your car, I would say (or write): "Burt's car is wonderful" showing that you in fact were the owner of the car (possession). "Burts car is wonderful" does not even make sense b/c there is more than one burt now and we have 2 subjects (burts and car... which is it... is the car wonderful... are burts wonderful...) "Burts' car is wonderful" is also grammatically correct, but only if we have more than one burt owning the same car. "product description" seems to be ok, but I don't know if it is grammatically sound. Looking at it, in this case, product is being used as an adjective to describe description. But can "product" be used as an adjective? Our good friend webster tells us not. The adjective form of "product" is productive and product can only be used as a noun. So you see we are back to "product's description" and all of our grammar checks out. The only thing necessary for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing - Edmund Burke
