Guest
Hi, with the template monster template came a few index files but in order for google to be able to index my pages is it necessary to put everything into folders and give them names? It is a store selling many brands but as each page is not actually have a name on the server (they are all under the umbrella of 'products' 'categories' or 'manufacturers.php how is google able to index the pages and recognise key words? Since we switched to a ready made template our ranking in our field has dropped from the top 5 to at least

Since we switched to a ready made template our ranking in our field has dropped from the top 5 to at least 30 Template Monster produce some very bad code, so a bad choice, especially if you wish to mod. If you are able to apply a seo contib, that might help your situation (though nowing Template Monster you'll probably strungle/fail) However seo url are not as important as some may say (IMHO) you can get pages to rank high without, but as i said Template Monster produce some lousy code so check how your site validates, google does look at site errors and will always rank a site without errors above those with. Thanks Spooks any SEO contribs you could particularly recommend? After paying $500 for the template I don't believe in failing with it, just learning and growing...such is life ;)
spooks
Look for ULTIMATE SEO URLS Do 2.1d version (many are bugged) When I said fail I ment your likely to fail to get this (or any) contrib to work with a monster template. osC contribs are written for the core version and are often not compatible with templates. Guest
I read some place that if you make folders up of at least some of your product like the main categories and create an index file in each one with certain text it helps...though where I read it as on google ions ago and alas can't remember the text for each index file, blah http://www.discountnutrition.co.nz
