Guest
Hi there, I saw a thread somewhere that suggested you can speed up your oscommerce site by deactivating the category count. I tried this and the site did load quicker but it also stopped my category menu from working. I have got other contributions installed like activate/deactivate categories. Could this have something to do with it?

Guest
Thanks... that is what I do. I set it to false but when I do my menu stops working... If I click on a category button the page does not open so I think it somehow affects the link. Quite baffled!!!
Guest
It should not stop the categories from working. What else have you done?

I think maybe I should just leave the category count and speed up the site in other ways. I have a number of contributions.
Guest
I don't know where to start... I think maybe I should just leave the category count and speed up the site in other ways. I have a number of contributions. I have removed category count via admin, and it works. I put it back, and it works. So, unless you are using a template, check the code in the files against the stock osc. If using a template, anything is possible.

Where can I check stock files? Do you mean in Admin?
Guest
There must have been something else that was affecting... the category count. It seems to be working now! Don't know what happened and site is faster.
