rem1010
I am very frustrated! I have installed and removed and reinstalled and removed and read the instructions over and over and it still ALWAYS installs: "This is a default setup of osCommerce Online Merchant. Products shown are for demonstrational purposes. Any products purchased will not be delivered nor will the customer be billed. Any information seen on these products is to be treated as fictional." And there is NO documentation that I can find to FIX this problem. This program is very frustrating as the actual domain/catalog/install DOES NOT MATCH any of the documentation. There are NO check boxes ever. I downloaded and installed OVER and OVER again Online Merchant V2.2 RC2 Please Help as I have wasted more than 30hours on this prior to seeking help, as I wanted to be sure that it was not ME. I have had to MANUALLY uninstall EACH of the sample products and I am getting fed up very quickly.
Guest
Robert, The 'default' listings are for demonstration purposes only. You can go into the Catalog> Manufactures section of the admin panel and Delete each manufacturer. When you do this, simply click the box that says, delete products from this manufacture and it will remove the associated products as well. This is simpler than removing each product manually. Once you have done that, click categories. You will see 3 default categories. You can rename them, or delete them and input your own categories. You will also want to create your tax classes before you start to install the new products for your store. All this is explained in the documentation provided with your download. rem1010
I understand that the "default" listings are for demo. I cannot install ANYTHING BUT the demo. Documentation has check boxes to NOT install demo, but the actual install screens do not have any options. This is HOURS of work to remove PLUS the pages STILL SAY DEMO! There has to be something wrong here as ALL the docs do not match with the screens of the install. "What's New Here? Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in? Or would you prefer to create an account? This is a default setup of osCommerce Online Merchant. Products shown are for demonstrational purposes. Any products purchased will not be delivered nor will the customer be billed. Any information seen on these products is to be treated as fictional." This is WAY too much work, I will trash this JUNK and use Zen instead --- maybe it is crap too! Bob Robert, The 'default' listings are for demonstration purposes only. rem1010
The Zen Cart installed FLAWLESSLY! AND the documentation MATCHED the software --- WOW! I am very disapointed that osCommerce has released a version that DOES NOT install properly NOR does it match the documetation that accompanies it. It appears that perhaps developers have just become complacent in their work and release crap like this with no quality control. I was truly impressed with Zen Cart as it has been derived from osCommerce, but WORKS! and does not take 8-10 hours to fix a bad install! Good luck with this osCrap as it is very clear that people just do not take a personal interest in their work any more --- And by the way I have been doing this Internet Stuff since 1994 and wrote some of the first Cybercash Carts, so I pretty much know when developers crap out!!! Perhaps the previous versions worked, but the currect RC2a does not and is too much hassle to use. Bob As it says further down the page you need to edit the language files and ......
