rseigel
Is there a reason you used your seventh post here to take that cheap shot? :? I've helped a lot of people with OSC over the years thank you very much (been using it since almost the very beginning). You on the other hand have been here 3 days. I mean no harm to you or anyone else here so I think perhaps you should take your own advice and "calm down". :D
CC
Bit harsh Ron... It doesnt matter how long someone has been here, it is an open forum and he is fully entitled to his opinion. A little personal I agree, so maybe not being so direct might help. But I have been here for a long time, and I agree with gill to some extent. I dont think you are ignorant, but I do think you are flaming people alot recently. And you offer very little help... Maybe just look at answering queries and giving some helpful pointers on where they went wrong might help, dont just flame for flamin sake. Not to mention this is well off topic, seems a bit pointless. :? CC.
rseigel
Why is it every time some jerk takes a cheap shot at me and I defend myself you have to come along and point out why I'm wrong CC? You seem to conveniently ignore the point that ticked me off in the first place. It's getting a little tiring to be honest (and don't take that personally - I'm merely being honest). In this case there was no reason whatsoever for gillweb to post what he did. I wasn't rude to anyone in this thread at all. It was irrelevant and totally uncalled for. It's ok for him to be an ass to me but it's not ok for me to state my opinion in my own defense???? What sort of logic is that? :D
Harald Ponce de Leon
I've splitted the previous thread due to the offtopic postings - hopefully no one minds. Ron, I agree with the general that your attitude is a little direct and thus unfriendly when pointing out the mistakes a community member has made. I don't want this taken the wrong way as you have indeed helped a lot of people here, and hope this continues for the future. Though, please be a little more friendly when replying to such postings. Currently the type of replies you've made to such postings have not helped either way, wording what you want to point out differently can change the situation in a lot of ways in making people understand why a mistake has been made. Yes, it can get repetitive - if this is the case, then do not reply :D No reply is better than a "Bzzz, wrong! Go here->..." type of reply ;) Again, don't take this the wrong way. , osCommerce
CC
Very diplomatic, and well said. I am not creating a witch unt, I just want to help people build this community. If that is a bad thing, shoot me now. No offense Ron. I will keep my comments as topic related as poss in future. CC.
gillweb
Sorry to have start a thread like this. I've just starting to use OSC and i've been spending the past couple of days reading MOST of the board here. Ron, I do apologize in the matter of using the word "ignorant". I do agree that your comments (that i've read) are somewhat strong to an OSC beginner like me. Everytime I had an issue and sat down to read a thread, you posted no actual answer but something to the effect of "do it yourself" - "your here to learn so i'm not telling", etc. It just seemed like flaming was more your intent than help. Again I apologize to everyone and will be sure I don't post a thread like this in the future. <? Hello There! ?>
rseigel
As the old saying goes...crap happens. :D I know exactly the thread you're referring to and it's really out of context to use that as an example without looking at the other 300 or so posts I've made. In that situation I (and several other members I might add) were trying to help a member that has asked the same very basic questions over and over and over again to think for himself. That was an isolated incident and not reflective of my overall attitude. That thread is now water under the bridge and everyone's back to normal. :bigups: Anyhoo...apology accepted...please accept mine....let's get back to work. I have a keyboard that I need to bang my head against some more yet today.
Harald Ponce de Leon
I have a keyboard that I need to bang my head against some more yet today. Ah! So you're that guy I saw with DFGHJK tattooed to his forhead. I always wondered what that meant ;) , osCommerce
WebGeek
Ron, have you ever heard of Simon Cowell from Fox's TV show "American Idol"? I was just wondering. There might be a resemblence of some sort. :sarcasm: I haven't lost my mind, I have it backed up on disk, somewhere...
