Guest Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 ive been using osc for about a year and its fantastic.. straight forward and to the point. yesterday afternoon it all went wrong. i couldnt access the shop most times i tried then it was real real real slow..... im clueless when it comes to all ths mysql and database jargon so i had my cuz help me out who is a web page designer. my db was backup up and osc reinstalled..it worked perfect. the we put the db back on and had the same prob again. he thought it was the products i last entered so he removed them and uploaded the db once again.. nothing..same thing. i kept on asking if i was hacked but he sed no!! does this sound like a story? my cuz then asked if i got my webspace from a reseller and if it was a shard somthing or other and i found out and thats correct. he said that if something is wrong with somebody elses sql then it would affect mine!! im real lost... can anyone help??...oh i forgot to add that at some point yesterday evening while he was trying different things on my database it all started going well so he put my original db back up and everything worked fine.. till now. same problem again!!!!
mraccine Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 The slow problem could be because the website is hosted on a shared server and you have hundereds of sites sharing the same Database Server. It's happened to me before, and I called the hosting company to tell them that the database server is slow. Unfortunately they were not very helpful. I'm thinking of switching to a dedicated server, but costly. Shared server $5 to $15 per month on average Dedicated server $49 to $200 per month on average
