Niles Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Hello everyone I'm extremely new here and lost :( I just downloaded the OsCommerce files or rather uploaded them to my server and followed the instructions to run everything, I finally came to a page that says New Installation and there are 2 buttons one which says Catalog and the other Admin. I browsed around and started reading the downloaded pdf but I'm really lost. What I would like to do is have my own custom design implemented into the set up like some of the other live shops I see and I'm good at putting that together I just don't know where I am to begin in moving things around and adding my design, etc. Following the Pdf is a bit difficult so I thought I would reach out here. I have been browsing the forums and will continue to just wondered if there is anyone that can help walk through the process. I appreciate any assistance thank you .
Guest Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Hello, I totally agree that following the Pdf is a bit difficult. This is much easier to learn and follow with video tutorials. The following website has over 100 free osCommerce video tutorials: http://www.oscommerce-template-easy.com/os...als-center.html Best regards
Guest Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 While there are many programming options to create a custom look/feel for your osCommerce store, it is non-trivial to do that with the default installation. There are eBooks on how to do this at oscbooks.com, as well as knowledgebase articles here on how to make some modifications. There are templates available for osCommerce with a wide variety of code quality and compatibility. You will have to either do some programming to achieve this, or hire someone else to do it. There are plenty of tools available to help you do it, but it's not as simple as going into some osCommerce Administration tool and changing colors, images, and fonts. Such a tool is not included with osCommerce. -jared
