Customer Groups and exlusions for a distributor

Ok, I would like to be able to set this up for my current dealers i sell to. I would like some specific set ups.

 

I would like to be able to set up the site so that either i have to approve a new customer before they can see prices or even activate the account.

 

I would like some customers to beable to buys some product lines but not others. I think this would be best by utilizing groups. I would think i could do a general group that every one gets put in and all they see is Retail pricing. If they are added to Group 1 they get access to some items at a wholesale price and others they are not allowed to buy. Then if we add them to another group they could buy the once prohibited product lines. It may be neccisary to add a customer to 3 or even 10 different groups.

 

is this a viable and realistic way of doing this. We have some lines that we can sell to any dealer and some lines that require dealer contracts for those lines. A dealer may be able to buy one or more protected lines and i just need to make sure i am able to keep people from having access to lines they are not authorized to buy.
