tayl1684
Hi all. Hope you can help me. We have a problem where if we update (read increase, the exchange rate in the uk is shocking!) our prices, orders occasionally still come through on the old prices. I assume this is because the customer compiled a cart before we made the changes. Is this something that's supposed to automatically get rectified upon checkout? If not is there a way we can update the stored carts to reflect the new prices. I have scoured this forum for hours now but cant seem to find any referance to this so any help would much be appreciated. Ian
web-project
you can install the contribution to enable to automatically update the currency rates. Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues. Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.
tayl1684
you can install the contribution to enable to automatically update the currency rates. We may do that but the problem is not with the exchange rate conversion, the problem is that we buy our products from outside the uk in dollars and euros so things are now costing us 40% more than they did last lear. We are going to have to put our prices up considerably and we would like to make sure that any cart created befor the price increase updates to reflect the new prices. diy
I got afraid with what you said but i tested it . A saved cart will automatically update to the new price even if you (the store owner) save the new price moments before the customer makes the purchase !! Apparently you have not changed all prices
burt
If you still suffer the problem, you could empty the saved carts database table whenever you do a currency update.
tayl1684
Thanks for your reply's. I have just done the same test and prices were updated. Yet the person running the site maintains that some orders were coming through with outdated prices! I guess we'll just have to keep an eye on this. Thanks again for your imput. Sometime I see new customers with no orders want to check if the just registerd for no reason or they abandonned an order or they failed to comlete the order)
