votrechien
I used to use a bit of a 'lacking' shopping cart program for my website so I switched to OSCommerce. However, as soon as I switched to OSCommerce, my sales dropped significantly (like over 50%). This has been going on for about 5 months now. Could anyone take a look at my site and provide any feedback and why you think this may be. I used to have some problems from the SSL, but it all appears rectified now. Is it always like this?
danjt
Yeah, I found the same, everything is out of stock so people simply aren't going to order things, just go in and set the quantity for everything to 100 if stock levels aren't an issue to you at your end of things. votrechien
Yes, the 'out of stock' thing has been temporary for the last couple of weeks. The sales dropped well before then. Any ideas anyone?
spooks
Are both domains the same age? Google prefers established sites, new sites enter a sandbox for some time limiting search position. If 2 sites were to have very similar content the older would appear first. If you have same content on both sites google will see a duplicate content issue & ignore the newer. How does traffic compare between sites? What does analytics show? Sam Remember, What you think I ment may not be what I thought I ment when I said it. I noticed you changed your domain name which can cause problems with your customers due purely to unfamiliarity with the new website name. By this, I mean if I am used to going online to buy my books from "Amazon-books.com" and the site changes to "Amazon.com" I am suddenly buying from a brand new site. All the bookmarks, links, blogs, etc. to your old site do not transfer to the new site automatically when you change the name. You can try re-directing the old name to the new name for a while, but overall you have to do the work to "re-introduce" your company to your public and the rest of the online world. I would recommend you put some $$$ into some form of SEO activity and emailing your previous customers just to make sure you haven't overlooked this aspect. If you do need some SEO guidance, I can help you there. Good Luck with better business. Sam PS. I hate to say it, but this could also be due to a bad economy.
