mickj Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 HI, I have been trying to install the Administration Level account Contrib' and have had loads of problems, mainly with a "REDIRECT" error message from my browser. I intend to battle on to resolve this problem but my question is about the functionality of the Contrib'. I am trying to allow designated users access to the CUSTOMERS > ORDERS part of the OsCommerce Admin so that they cam view and process the orders remotely but have no access to the rest of the store setup. Can someone advise me if this is possible with this Contrib' as all the reading I have done seems to suggest that the Contrib' allows access to PRODUCTS > CATEGORIES but no mention of CUSTOMER > ORDERS. Maybe this is the wrong way to approach this and all my efforts will be in vain. If this is not possible is there any Contrib' available that will allow this limited access. Searched and searched but cannot find anything ORDERS specific, Many thanks Mick Quote

Then, click next to submit. Select the new group click on new permission. Check the boxes and pages, you want to give free. Thats it. You nedd to make a new administration group and define new permissions for the boxes or pages you want Quote
mickj Posted February 19, 2009 Author Posted February 19, 2009 Many thanks for the advice. First I need to actually have it working without the REDIRECT error and then I'll follow your advice Thanks again. At least I now know I'm headed in the right direction  Quote
mickj Posted February 20, 2009 Author Posted February 20, 2009 Thanks again for your advice. I now have it working as you suggested. I am looking for a bit more advice, if you can assist. When I go to the CUSTOMERS > ORDERS I am now presented with a blank screen, but I have worked out that if I "search" for the order number, it then appears. However, there seems to now be no functionality to delete any orders. Is that correct? Like most of us I have created many "test" orders to prove functionality and before going "live" I would like to remove my test orders. Also when I go to CUSTOMERS > CUSTOMERS, I am again presented with a blank screen, but no matter what I type in the search field, nothing appears. (Tried numbers, email address, firstname, last name). Do not even receive a "not found" message as I do with the ORDERS if I type in an order number that doesn't exist. Have you had similar experience or are you able to offer any advice, Many thanks Mick Quote

Is there really nothing in the screen? It could be also an SQL error. Run the .sql file again. Which one version of the Contribution do you have? I have 2.3.0 installed. mickj Posted February 20, 2009 Author Posted February 20, 2009 (edited) Hi once again, Many thanks for your update The sceeen is not totally blank. I have the usual menu on the left and the top header, and then a heading , either CUSTOMERS or ORDERS. On the extreme right the search box and the usual footer. Other than that the main screen where you would normally see the orders or customer details is totally blank I am running 2.3.1. Full Package from this link http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/1359/v,22 Currently the third item down I will follow your advice and re-run the SQL and if that fails will revert to the version you are using, which currently appears to be the next link down. Will let you know how I get on Regards Mick Edited February 20, 2009 by mickj Quote
mickj Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 Hi Tako, Well I'm at a loss. Tried re-running the SQL but with no effect. So I then decided to start again. Deleted the whole DB and all of the OSCOMMERCE files. Uploaded the latest V2.2RCa from a new download and installed default settings. All functioned perfectly. Created a new user as well as the default Sent an order - All OK Added The Administration Contrib' 2.3.0. and ran the associated SQL update. (No errors) Back to where I was before. Everything works except I cannot see Customers or Orders. Totally bizarre ! ! Not sure where to go from here. Any ideas ? Regards Mick Quote
kornel76 Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 (edited) So I think that you didn't checked all the checkboxes beside the files (orders.php, customers.php, etc.) you want to get free for the user. If you just check the boxname of the box, you see just the box. If you have checked all the boxes, then you can upload the original files to admin/includes/boxes and can also make a test. I have the original customers box because its better redirected tehn the modificated. Users without prvilieg cant access. 3rd idea: maybe you didn't stored the files in Adminstrators-->files Edited February 21, 2009 by kornel76 Quote
mickj Posted February 23, 2009 Author Posted February 23, 2009 Hi again, I have followed your advice and double checked that the boxes are ticked for Customers and beneath for customers.php and orders.php I have tried uploading the original files from the V2.2Rc2a distribution too Still the same. Not sure quite what you mean by Adminstrators-->files. I have saved each time an option to save has been offered and my new group and user are all intact. It sounds as maybe I am missing a step in the setup of this contrib' Regards Mick Quote
mickj Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 Problem solved at last. From all of the brilliant advice I received from member kornel76 I now have the Admin Contribution working. Not 100% certain of where the problem existed but installed OSCOMMERCE 2.2-MS2 instead of RC2a and now eveything is working. Should you run into a similar problem, the MS2 version is available via sourceforge.net Thanks once again to the OSCOMMERCE Community and in particular kornel76 Quote
