ncoded
hi, could someone outline the steps/strategry required to make multiple OSC websites all run from a single products database, but leaving the rest to config on each site. is this possible? i have seen the add-ons but cannot really work out how they are working or what changes are being made etc. would it not be possible so that OSC would get only the products from 1 database (external) and all other elements from the main (local) db? essentially I am looking for someone just to talk through the steps with me (high level view), basically to leave the coding/changes to myself. anyone? if someone does i will try to document the project with proper system documenation (UML, ER etc). -- if i get time :(
web-project
is this possible? yes it is possible, depends on URL address get different design of the store with the same products & admin panel. Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues. Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.
ncoded
thanks for your reply Alex. really i want to keep the admin (minus the products) unique to each site. however if i can see or hear about how other people have setup this type of functionlity then this would be very useful. Alex is this somthing that you have personally implemented on some of your osc sites?
