Limit number of items purchased based on stock level

Hi,

 

I've got an oscommerce installation where we're trying to limit the number of items a customer can order. Say for instance if we've got 5 in stock. I want the customer to only be able to order 5 and once they've ordered that, they shouldn't be able to add any more to the cart. The check in place works with the exact amount, however if the customer adds just 1 and then keeps adding it to the basket the check breaks and this way they can add 100 of the same item even if we've only got 1 in stock.

 

Hope some on on this forum can help out, I've got the error to show up but can't stop the user still adding stuff to the cart based on the stock level.
