atelierbeads Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Please note: THIS IS NOT THE USUAL PAYPAL LOST CART ISSUE!! I recently migrated to a new server with updated mySQL and PHP. On 2.2ms2 installations moved to the new server, logged-in users are losing their shopping carts when they leave the site. I'm having difficulty diagnosing and fixing this issue, and it is causing a great deal of stress among several formerly-happy OSC users and supporters. I posted about this a month ago, have not received even a single response, and am still engaged in a struggle to rectify this. Could someone spare at least a word or an opinion about where to begin? Is there anybody out there who would consider consulting for pay? Thank you. This community has never let me down in five years.
ricksteruk2005 Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 it sounds like a sessions or a cookie issue. in admin under configuration there is a link titled sessions, is recreate session set to true? I dont help with templates (thats what the seller is for) th search function will often help, when it dont try this in google. site:http://www.oscommerce.com/forums then your search word
FIMBLE Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 it depends on how long the customer stays away from the store, the sessions dies after around 5 - 10 minutes of non use. do what Ricky suggested also you could set cookies to true. atelierbeads Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 cookies to true Thanks, everyone! Cookies are set to "true" as is "re-create session." Sessions are file based on this server but could easily be changed to database. That's one thing I haven't tried. It does not matter if you formally log out or just surf away from the site. If you close your browser, the cart is lost. If you keep your browser open, the cart is retained. If you log out formally, the cart is lost (despite the msg on that page that says it has been saved.) This one's a real puzzler. One of the sites is frequented by designers who like to keep their carts open and going, sometimes for several days as they add components. It's becoming very inconvenient! satish Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 chek Your configure session settings. These should not result in oscid getting changed. just set false to all except kill spider session and test. If dedicated SSL then force cookies to true will helkp further. A family emergency has kept me away from work for a few days, but I have a question: Is there a security setting on the server itself that could be causing this?
