Image Constraints Ignored in IE8

Not sure if it something I need to tweak or if it is a common problem but all my images, doesn't matter whether square, portrait or landscape are condensed in width. However if I open the large image and click on the browser compatibility view the image reverts to correct height and width and when I go back to the small image, it has corrected too.

 

I am only new to this so could well be my formatting.

 

Images are currently set to;

 

Small Image Width 120

Small Image Height

Heading Image Width 57

Heading Image Height 40

Subcategory Image Width 100

Subcategory Image Height 57

Calculate Image Size true

Image Required true

 

I was getting the same response when Small Image Height was set to 80 (I think it was 80)

 

Any idea?????
