chipinaw Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I have run into the situation where my web hosting company does not support the php version for the newest release ( 2.2) Is there a way I can get around this by installing an older version of oscommerce? or perhaps a file that canges the php.ini ( which I don't have access too either. Thanks for your help, chipinaw nubee, but eager to learn...learning but oh so painful, chipinaw
Jack_mcs Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Php version 4 was discontinued some time ago and will continue to be updated. By sticking with outdated code, you are just asking for trouble. And downgrading your code will mean some contributions won't work without editing. Plus, once the new version of oscommerce comes out, you will not be able to use it, I'm guessing, since I'm sure it uses code based on php 5. So, in short, if your host won't upgrade, you need to consider changing hosts. I was trying to install via the interface that godaddy includes in their applications control panel.I will try downloading and installing manually. Perhaps there is something in the godaddy install script that is stopping it. nubee, but eager to learn...learning but oh so painful, chipinaw
