paul r
Hi, When i first installed SEO URL's my site was indexed fairly well........now only 56 links out of my sitemap are indexed. So the total amount of indexed pages has gone from 350 in google down to 150 today. All i've done is setup robots.txt to disalow access to /images/ and changed my categories menu to a CSS one. could someone have a look and see whats happened? there are loads of products that arent indexed anymore. Is there something i can do with the categories menu? my site is www.myparts.co.uk Paul.
germ
It might help if you put some "content" and "keyword" meta tags on your site. I clicked on a few things and looked at the HTML and found none.. anywhere... If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. paul r
It might help if you put some "content" and "keyword" meta tags on your site. I clicked on a few things and looked at the HTML and found none.. anywhere... Hi, I havent got round to doing that yet - but that doesnt explain why indexed pages are being dropped from the google index? Is it the categories menu? Paul.
paul r
I take it back!! it does explain it. Thats exactly what the problem is! I'm such a dumb ass :) The only part that has meta tags is the popup picture php script...........and guess what, I stopped google from indexing those by blocking access to the /images/ directory in robots.txt. I did this because google was only indexing the pictures - thats why! because of the meta tags! I'll install easy meta tags later tonight and hopefully that should solve it. thanks for opening my eyes :) Paul.
paul r
OK done it :) Should I change the code so that the are tags for the categories as well? or is it good enough to just have them on products? Cheers, Paul.
