Hunnenkoenig
Hi, I don't know, if this is the right forum, but anyways: I'd like to have a contribution, where a Discount Coupon is always tied to an affiliate. For example I have an affiliate JOE. He does advertisement for my site on his webpage. Now I create a Discount Coupon for his users called COUPONJOE. When the user hits his affiliate banner and use the Coupon, the affiliate get payed and the user gets the discount. BUT: What if the user visits the site through the banner, but doesn't buy anything. He comes back 2 days later through his saved Favorite Links and uses the COUPONJOE. He gets the discount, but the Affiliate doesn't get anything. Now I'd like to have a contribution, where it doesn't matter, when and who uses the COUPONJOE, the affiliate JOE gets the reward of this transakction. Can somebody make such a Contrib, or is there one out there, I just didn't find it? Please help! Thanks!
burt
So, to confirm.... You want to set up a different coupon code for each of your affiliates? You will then manually track coupon codes and payout your affiliates appropriately?
Hunnenkoenig
To be honest, I thought, it could be nice, if it would automatically track the sell and tie it to the affiliate. What I want, is to tie the coupon to the affiliate and if somebody checks out with the coupon, the money is splitted automatically between my shop and the affiliate. I already have an affiliate contribution and it tracks the sells, but the tracking is only for the actual session as I understood. User follows affiliate banner -> user registers -> user buys -> affiliate gets reward. But if he doesn't buy in the same session, as he came to the shop by following the affiliate banner, the affiliate doesn't get anything. So I want a contrib, where a unique coupon can be set to one affiliate and every time this coupon is used, the affiliate gets the reward after that sell automatically. Every affiliate need a unique coupon code. The reason is: I made an arrangement with one site (later probably more) where I promised comission to the affiliate AND 10% discount for his users. So I want that one coupon made only for him recognize that the user, which is using this coupon came from him, because the user could only get the coupon code on that particular site. burt
So you lredy have an aff thing set up. Hence nothing more to do on that, right? All you need is system of giving each aff a unique discount code for all his clients.
Hunnenkoenig
I don't know if we understand eachother. Mainly I need a system, where one coupon code rewards one affiliate (and the user of course) even if the user, which used the code didn't come from the affiliate's site. First: I don't want to search manually for users, who may have come from his site and for users who may have used that code. Second: Not the discount for the user is the problem, but the reward for the affiliate. Even if somebody uses the affiliate's unique code, the affiliate doesn't get the reward, because the user came directly to my shop and not from the affiliate's site (probably because he already know the system and doesn't always want to visit the affiliate's site and klick the banner, but this user is still the affiliate's user, who was led to me by that affiliate and I want to reward him for that) Maybe I could reward him manually after i searched for that coupon manually, but that is what I don't want to do. We live in the 21st century in the age of computers. It must be possible to do that automatically :-P And yes, I already have an affiliate system set up. burt
So you need to use the coupon code to not only give a discount to the buyer, but also to make the order act as if the buyer came via an affiliate link. Well, that's not very difficult, I think. You will need to grab the code that inserts the aff details to the order and make sure that when a vbuyer inserts a discount code, the aff code also exists or is initiated if it does not exist. Do you have the php knowledge to make investigations on your codebase?
Hunnenkoenig
Exactly. I'm afraid, I'm not as good in PHP to be able to do that. I would appreciate a little help from an experienced coder. I can tell, which distributions I use for coupons and affiliates, if that helps, But I have to look them up, because I don't really remember anymore :-)
