dbronk
I'm definitely a PHP and osCommerce beginner. My boss has me setting up his shopping site and I have it setup and using his SSL cert. The last step is hooking up credit card payment. He said he has a merchant account already and can accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. We have discussed and decided that we do not want to store customer credit card information to remove any type of liability from us. What is the easiest path for me to get the site up and running with his merchant account. We would like his merchant account to do all the credit card logic so we don't have to store it. Sorry for this being a very basic question, but I just don't know the best thing to do.
Guest
Dale, Many sites use PayPal's Secure Server system to accept credit card transactions. PayPal charges similar fee's that a credit card company would charge and has buyer and seller protection for online purchases. PayPal is an Ebay company as well so they are reputable. The little bit of reading that I did on the PayPal modules led me to believe it was not as seemless to the site as we would like. It appears that after completing the PayPay purchase they are not automatically brought back to our site and it still has us storing the credit card numbers. But, I also see that there are multiple PayPal modules and don't know which one is the best to use. 2. Apparently he has struck a very good deal with his merchant account (at least he told me he did). It was for that reason that he was wanting to use his own merchant. So while we are looking into PayPay I'd appreciate any information on which PayPal module to use and if my assumptions of not automatically coming back to our site after PayPal purchase is correct. Also, if he insists on using his own merchant, what credit card module shouls I use? Thanks again. Dale
