magictime
thanks so much for your time,I have been worried about this problem about my oscommerce online shop. I installed the oscommerce online shop yesterday and it runs fine.but yesterday I changed my host account's c-panel password, then I found I can't visit my oscommerce shop now.i get the words as below: Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'xxxxx_osc'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home2/xxxxx/public_html/catalog/includes/functions/database.php on line 19 Unable to connect to database server! and it's told by my host provider ,when my cpanel password changed, the mysql datebase password is changed the same time.then I was adviced to check the following two files which includes the datebase password configuration. /includes/configure.php and admin//includes/configure.php you will have to change the database user/pass but when i try to open both files ,I found the original password is encrypted in both files ,then how can I change to my new password ?? by the way,I changed back the original password in cpanel, but it still shows the same problem,I can't visit my oscommerce site anyway.:-( what can I do now ? I feel worried.

magictime
What are you using to access your configure.php files? Are you accessing the files on the server or on your hard drive? thanks for your reply.yes,I access the both files of configure.php by cuteftp ,I download both files to my hard drive and try to change it by dreamweaver.but when I open the both configure.php.I find the password listed there are both encrypted,as below: define('DB_SERVER', 'localhost'); define('DB_SERVER_USERNAME', 'xxxxx_osc2'); define('DB_SERVER_PASSWORD', 'R8D...KeQ'); it seems it's the encrypted format.how can I change to the same cpanel password I just set ? my host supplier told me the mysql datebase password changed to the same as I change the cpanel password. and from my cpanel page,I can't find where to change the mysql datebase password ,or from phpadmin . thanks for your time... Make the change to the file on your hard drive (back up the original first) and upload it to the server using ftp (Dreamweaver of Cuteftp). ♥geoffreywalton
The mysql password in the configuration files is not encrypted in any way. If the password for xxxxx_osc2 is ghnJGDCvsg6r4f&fb the line in both configuration files will be define('DB_SERVER_PASSWORD', 'ghnJGDCvsg6r4f&fb'); Need help installing add ons/contributions, cleaning a hacked site or a bespoke development, check my profile Virus Threat Scanner My Contributions Basic install answers. magictime
The mysql password in the configuration files is not encrypted in any way. If the password for xxxxx_osc2 is ghnJGDCvsg6r4f&fb the line in both configuration files will be define('DB_SERVER_PASSWORD', 'ghnJGDCvsg6r4f&fb'); thanks.I do changed the configure from my hard drive and update to the server by ftp tool. as you adviced, the password in configure file is not encrypted,I have tried to change it to my original cpanel password and my new cpanel password, and reupload, but it still doesn't work ? I also tried to change the cpanel password to my original one,but it's strange the problem still exists.?? there is one question: I'm told by host supplier that mysql password is changed to the same as new cpanel password, but from my cpanle's mysql datebase,I notice there have been three username for this osccommerce online shop datebase of "osc2",the user of "'xxxxx_osc2' (which is listed in both configure files) is just one of three.so I wonder which password is changed when I modified the cpanel password ? I'm not familiar with mysql or oscommerce, anyway,I will do my most to find the solution, maybe this will also be helpful for further friends who has the same problem. thanks again. ♥geoffreywalton
For each user name, enter their user name into both configuration file and the new password, if it works great otherwise try the next one. I tried as geoffreywalton adviced, enter the three usernames and new password seperately. but it still failed.anyway, from cpanel's mysql datebase,I deleted the username of xxxxx_osc2 (which is original listed in both configure files) and readd new username attached with new password. then make change in both configure files. now,it works !! thanks so much for you friends' advice! I do appreciate it ! have a nice time~
