This is my first time using a OScommerce builder. I dont know much of PHP and that lingo so heres the issue.

I am trying to add http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/2618 to my store, but dont know how to. I dont find the files it is telling me to go to.

Then it says back up all files... When I try to it says No back up, create in Configure.php What is this  ? I feel lost. Please help.

Thank so much.

Angela,

backing up your site includes making a back up of you SQL database and also a complete backup of your OSC files.

once that is complete, edit each of the files effected by the changes you want to make in the contribution. Once the changes are complete, upload the edited files back to your site.

If a database change is required. use the SQL run query to make the changes before trying to access the site.

Hi

first the backup issue: I'm not sure what your problem exactly is but regarding the backup its a recommended that you backup the php files before you change the so that you can replace them if anything goes wrong, I'm using this system since an oscommece installation isnt taking up much space om the hard drive:

Before you make the changes create a new folder on your local machine(i.e backOsC001 and just copy the whole oscommerce folder to it. then you always can go back to that directory and get the original files. The sql backup is only needed if you make any changes to your database that is critical, but if you feel uncertain just backup the database either using phpmyadmin or the backup in the admin section.

then to the addon issue:

The files you shall edit are specified with their names in the installation instructions. OsCommerce has many files with the same names but in different folders so be careful when you read the instructions so that you are in the right folder. The installations instructions are mostly very precise to tell exactly which lines you shall alter and in which file to get the addon to work.

A general advise to get familiar with a new system and language is that you first makes an installation that you can experiment with before you do the "real" installation, that can save much time and you dont have to worry to much if something goes wromg.

Hope this will help you a little bit on the way at least

But if the installation instructions are only in spanish the issue of installing the contribution is a little bit harder if you dont speak it :-)
