Open a USA bank account?

I am sure this has been done, but I can't seem to find an answer.

 

How does a Canadian or Canadian business preferably, open a US bank account.

 

Buffalo would be the city of choice if a visit is necessary.

 

Any help on this one?

I came across this same problem about 5 yrs ago and found that a Canadian can NOT open a US business account without a US business license, and further cannot open a US personal account without a US address.

 

To overcome this problem, I simply rented a PO Box which gave me the US address I needed to open the account. TCF only requires confirmation from the PO BOX company stating you have leased the address for deliveries.

Ya, a US bank account.

The reason is that I can't transfer my US PayPal dollars into my US Dollar Canadian bank account directly and keep them as US Dollars to pay my US vendors. The banks or PayPal convert to Canadian funds. There seems to be some regulation that causes it to happen and there is no work around for it.

 

What I would like to do is get a full blown business US bank account with a debit card and a check book. That would solve those issues.

 

I like the P.O. Box idea. I will likely give it a try soon.

Any other suggestions would be well received.

 

Oh, and I'm also looking for a good code jockey (Ontario if possible) for various shop upgrades on an ongoing basis.
