Petre
Hi, I'm thinking of installing various contributions. Almost every post re contributions suggests that a backup should be done prior to installing any add-ons. Is there a step-by-step procedure to follow, please? Also, does backup refer only to the database or to the catalog files (.php, .css, .html etc.) as well? If so, what would be the easiest way to backup all files? I was thinking of backing up catalog files by creating a separate folder ("catalog_backup", for example) and copying all files to that folder, but am wondering if there's a better and quicker way for catalog files backups. Thanks.
Guest
Petre, I find it easier to backup my database using phpmyadmin and to then download a complete backup of my site using FTP to my computer from the server. This way, I always have a COMPLETE back up of everything if I need to reload it. Chris
Petre
Petre, I find it easier to backup my database using phpmyadmin and to then download a complete backup of my site using FTP to my computer from the server. This way, I always have a COMPLETE back up of everything if I need to reload it. Chris Thank you, Chris. Don't have access to phpmyadmin, but noticed that there is an Admin Tool (Database Backup Manager) for database backup. When I click on the "backup" button, I get a warning re /admin/backup.php on lines 443 and 444. In spite of this warning, it allowed me to download the sql file (which I presume is the backup file for the database???) to my computer. Is the Database Backup Manager tool reliable I wonder?
