Hi

Me and a friend share a store lease and both have different business's

We are wondering if they're is a way we setup OS commerce with 2 Separate stores using 2 Separate Domain names etc.. but using only one physical install of the software? So we only have to use the one server between us.

Any help would be appreciated.

That can be done but it might cause problems later on. Your hosting plan may allow for more than one shop to be installed in the same account. So there would be two shops with different urls. This is fairly common. You would need to talk to your host though to be sure they will allow it.

We were planning on hosting it on one of my machines here as I run a computer Store.

I know its quite easy to setup one store on the server with no problem, But 2 using the same physical install of the OS commerce i dont know if its even possible like that.

If you understand what i mean i'm after something like a Distributed or Instanced install (so i can have multiples off one install/host without using Virtual servers etc.. not sure how to explain it any better)

There's a MultiStore contribution that may do what you want but that would only be necessary if you want to share resources. You can have two separate (or any number) of oscommerce running at the same time. They just need to be in their own directories.
