Teach them how to use a table, create links, and well, thats about it.. And all of a sudden they think they are expert on it and want to start taking over my business. lindsayanng
haha.. i'm about to.. The thing is, I have been learning A LOT lately. I am going to school to get a degree in web design, and I have been getting a lot of people wanting me to do their little websites (mostly friends and business associates, but its cool) anyways, i taught my husabnd how to do some html because he was always wanting to add images to his photography site and I just didnt always have the time.. So now a friend wants "us" to do his contractor website. Very simple html site with a more complex contact form.. blah blah.. So i was talking about to layout the before and after pictures so they look nice and not just side by side and he was arguing with me about it.. not about how it would LOOK but how the html would act on certain peoples computer.. about the usability.. he knows NOTHING about CSS and all i wanted was a CSS hover or onclick, and hes thinking its the most complicated thing in the world ON THE USERS END!! Its just that i finally feel like i am getting my footing in the website world, and I got some person who JUST started learning questioning what I spent HOURS teaching myself.. Basically, i do all the leg work teaching myself and doing trial and error.. then i teach him the right way in a few sittings, and its all done.. he doesnt have to stare of google for hours trying to find the right tutorial A great place for newbies to start Road Map to oscommerce File Structure DO NOT PM ME FOR HELP. How about the ones that pm you back saying that you telling them not to pm you is rude? I respond back to them saying you have just been blocked, now you can say I was rude. lindsayanng
OMG that is the WORSE.. so many people now adays running around feeling ENTITLED>. you are only entitled to ANYTHING when you pay for it!! I mean, it is a good thing where if you create a contribution, that you support it (to an extent) and once it gets out of control (other whackos adding their big fixes") then theres a time to give up.. But once you have done your part, you do it.. I mean, its nice enough that people even submit their contributions.. the submitee doesnt get anything out of it really.. Do bite the hand that feeds you A great place for newbies to start Road Map to oscommerce File Structure DO NOT PM ME FOR HELP. My time is valuable, unless i ask you to PM me, please dont. Guest
Lindsay, my remedy is lots of Tylenol ! And personally, I don't do any website without being paid. My time can be used to create paying sites so for me not to get paid is just wrong. Most of the PM's I get are simply deleted unless its a simple fix. But I must receive 3-5 a day requesting help, usually FREE help so those are deleted without response. I spend many years getting my certificate and feel my student loan deserves to paid on time !
