dcolombo
I was running on one hosting company and had v 2.2 RC2a installed. I have all my stuff loaded there. I have my directory structure backed up, and database file archive. On my new hosting company control panel, I click the button and it installs oscommerce nicely, but it is version 2.2-MS2. At first I see that there is at least one change, there is an additional directory in place now: v2.2 RC2a: <host>\ 2.2-ms2: <host>\catalog Can I just copy my existing file strucure from the root to the new catalog folder? ALSO: when I go into the new install (2.2-ms2) I get the nice fancy admin menu, but when I click on an item and click the edit button on the right to edit the values, no textboxes show up to allow me to edit. I don't see any errors listed and was just wondering what special thing I might have to do. Again, hostexcellence had a one click install of 2.2-ms2, so I did not do any of the installation. What should I check on?
web-project
Can I just copy my existing file strucure from the root to the new catalog folder? yes, you can, simply update the paths in configure.php files Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues. Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.
dcolombo
yes, you can, simply update the paths in configure.php files So would the databases be compatible? So when I click installed the new oscommerce, it created a mysql database. Would I go into mysql control panel and a do a restore from backup from the other other server? ♥jailaxmi
So would the databases be compatible? So when I click installed the new oscommerce, it created a mysql database. Would I go into mysql control panel and a do a restore from backup from the other other server? I would just create a new database and then update the configure.php files with your new information, transfer all your files to your new server, and forget about the one-click install if you want to preserve your store the way it is now. The one-click installation would create a whole new store (an older version than what you have now) and a new database with a scrambled password. This info would go into your new configure.php files, too. The database created by the one-click install would work with your old store if the password you chose for it and the one you had before are the same. It's your choice, but you don't really need the one-click install. Hope this helps.
