Guest
I'll be blunt. My site is hideous. The more I look at the site feedback forum, the more hideous it becomes. It's been running on osCommerce for 3 years, with technical enhancements but no design work was really done. Or very little. I think I can do the work, but I lack a good source of design graphics. I've looked about but not seeing good quality. If anyone has any recommendations, I would greatly appreciate it. I have PSP (which sucks), to make some of my own, but will get a copy of Photoshop before I go into full blown redesign. Any help is welcome. If this is the wrong place to put this question, I apologize.

Let's see BigStockPhoto - I like them for backgrounds. there's some neat stuff here: magictoolbox and for some fun, here's a color scheme generator

jhande
I have PSP (which sucks), to make some of my own, but will get a copy of Photoshop before I go into full blown redesign. I'm not sure what version of Paint Shop Pro you have, but I went back to version 6 long ago. Get it free here. A really fun and useful filter plug-in is Alien Skins Eye Candy. I didn't notice much of a change between version 3000 & 4000. Get it free here. I used just those two programs for years and created awesome graphics for the web; including buttons, backgrounds, borders, etc... I have updated since to Photoshop CS2. It was a bit of a learning curve but turned out great for editing photo's and graphics. But there are times I still prefer PSP for some task. Either way each program should serve you well for web graphics. Oh one thing... Photoshop with Image Ready does a really good job of optomizing images were PSP is a bit weak in that regard. Snagging images from the web or having a web site create your buttons for you is alright. But I prefer to get inspiration from sites and create my own. It's all part of the fun putting together a site. ;) Good luck! - :: Jim :: - - My Toolbox ~ Adobe Web Bundle, XAMPP & WinMerge | Install ~ osC v2.3.3.4 -
