Feedback on store in development

Recommended Posts

I'm developing a new store for friend and installed the CSS Menu contribution. It worked great, but then I put images in the mix.

It still seems to work, but I thought I saw some hourglasses, and blanks, fickering when you moved the cursor from one category to another.

The problem seems to be primarily in IE. I looked at it in 3.0.5 Firefox and is okay.

We did try it in three different locations (fast connections down to 125K) and the people I talked to said it was okay. However, I can't see that with my own peepers.

If anyone has any extra time, can you pull up the site and page up/down the menu to see if you getting any flickering of hour glasses, blanks, slow swapping of images, etc.

Also, if you have another spare moment if you want to look at the product listing (hematite necklaces is the best) and see if you get the popups okay, that would help too.

Please be aware, that my friend and I are BOTH working on this site. I'm doing, and teaching, so there are some things that are still messed up that I we just haven't gotten to yet.

I just thought I saw something odd with the menus and wanted to back it out, now, if it was not working properly.

Any help is appreciated! I know everyone is busy!

L@@K here for the site

P.S. If asking for partial feedback, or premature feedbackius, is bad form apologies in advance. Just let me know. THANKS!

P.S.S. Both the CSS Menu Contribution and the popup contain JavaScript, if you have it turned off.

Using IE 7.0.5730.13 and Firefox 3.0.5 under XP, the menu works flawlessly, and the popups also work. I did get one product image that didn't load the first time, but that's probably just my wireless connection flaking out.

In Firefox 3.0.5 under Linux, the first subcategory under Costume Jewelry is blank and has extra whitespace above and below the box. Perhaps the name is too long to fit? Everything else works.

Jim

Thank you! This is exactly the feedback I need.

I think you are right, that the subcategory name is too long.

Update:

The CSS Menu does not work properly with the pop-ups in the product listing.

When you navigate up and down over the submenus they flicker.

I think it's because the submenu is laying on top of an image, and the pop=up/css menu are colliding.

I backed it out, and will repost when there is a complete solution.

Also found a problem in FIREFOX. In some cases, when you move the cursor off of the submenus the images stay on the screen.

Sorry, not trying to bump this post. Since I asked for feedback I thought I would post what we found, after the fact.

Sorry, again, if this should have gone in the contributions forum.
