Converting the model field to look like manufacturer infobox

I like that I can have an infobox for manufacturers.

I like that admin control allows me to make the manufacturer infobox into a pulldown menu.

 

I want to make my field for the different models, do exactly the same thing that manufacturers infobox allows.

 

Here's my question:

How can I make a pulldown menu for my list of models?

Is there a contribution already that does this?

 

I don't want to replace my manufacturers with models, I want them BOTH to be pull down menus.

 

The reason I need both is because my particular need is for a bookstore layout and my models are author's names and my manufacturers are publisher names.
