busyfingers Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 hello all , sorry to sound stupied <_< i was wondering how i can change the permissions on my oscommerce site , any ideas?
airbrushmaster Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 hi i do it by login in to the shop via ftp
busyfingers Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 ah right im not the brightest with all this, what u mean by ftp?
busyfingers Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 it comes up with this when i try to upload a file, " Error: I can not write to this directory. Please set the right user permissions on: /home/busyfing/public_html/"
airbrushmaster Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 you will have to change permissions of the folder or file
airbrushmaster Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 right click the folder or file and go to attributes chmod
busyfingers Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 Still confused :S when i right click the folder i get the usual options such as ... open link , open link in new tab , ect:S
♥geoffreywalton Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 ftp is a geeky way of saying file transfer protocol. You can change permissions of files and directories using an ftp client such as filezilla. You can also change permissions using your hosting company's control panel, ask them how to do it. You could also load a contribution that allows you to set permissions from your shop admin area.
