Sessions Not Saving in MySQL or /tmp folder

All,

I have searched these forums and google for about 6 hours today and tried hundreds of things. Nothing has fixed me.

Here is where I am at..

Had OScommerce running on another host for over a year. No issues. It too was a windows shared server. (All my other sites are in ASP)

I moved everything to GoDaddy, shared windows server.

Site comes up and navigates (www.kimsuniqueboutique.com).

But, if I set STORE_SESSIONS to mysql, I get blank pages. And if I check in the db, it isnt saving the session.

If I set STORE_SESSIONS to nothing '', it navigates, no blank pages, finds my strategically placed /tmp folder, but doesnt save a thing to the tmp folder.

Result: Cant login. Cant populate shopping cart.

For login, if I try a bad name/password, it tells me. If I use a good one, it just goes back to the main page but still shows me as 'guest'.

So, sessions or cookies or some combination are not working.

I did have an issue with the ASP pages and cookies when I first swtitched to GoDaddy. I had to set all my cookie paths to be blank ''.

I tried that in my configure.php for my store and that didnt solve it.

And I am also getting the "Your E-Mail Address does not appear to be valid - please make any necessary corrections." error when using the 'contact us' form or registering a new account.

I am guessing it is all related?????

So......... any ideas??

Thanks,

Rob

Anybody there??

A. Bumping is not allowed here.

B. 65 people looked at this so that should tell you something

C. Is this server working allright? Something wrong with sessions in PHP? I don't remember ever read about an error like this before and I assume the other 64 people thought the same thing.

No need to be negative.

I am having a problem so I asked a question. If you do not know the answer, you dont have to give me a hard time over it. I was not bumping. It has been a few days and I saw that over 60 people had viewed this and I figured by adding a post it would let people know that I still do not have the solution. A lot of times, people wont answer a post because some time has passed since it was posted and people assume that the poster probably solved it by now. I have not solved it by now. Hence the post.

Everything I read on this forum and across the net thru google all talk about OsCommerce on Linux. I can not find any related issues, especially for windows. I was hoping that the admins here would have some idea as to what I can look into.

If it were just an issue with sessions in php, that would be one thing, but the sessions do not save in mysql either. Since I do not know exactly how the sessions are programmed in OSC to save and function, I am looking for advice as where there could be an issue and what settings must be set to sucessfully save and retrieve sessions.

Do the cookie settings have something to do with it? Or are the sessions independent? These are the type of answers I am hoping for.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

I tried with oscommerce 3rc5 and this time i cant even login to admin space (in 2.2 only public space login failed). I have this problem only with oscommerce, other php software (ipb, drupal, dotclear...) works perfectly with windows working space.

Seriously? This forum is known for how helpful it is. I think the problem is usually people come here with the attitude they are owed something. The op posted a question he is having with his server, not with the oscommerce package. Then he broke the forum rules by bumping. Jan let him know that was against the forum rules but sill tried to help. His response was angry instead of being apologetic. I, personally, don't try to help posters like that.

Then there is the problem of people hijacking other threads and wondering why they don't get an answer. You posted in this thread, and not any any other, but you seem upset no one has helped you.

You're right that this is free but you are incorrect about no one liking to help for free. That's the only kind of posts allowed here and there are many, many replies.
