evotz
Is there a particular reason why osCommerce does not release new versions? How come osCommerce appears to be the only script that has trouble with a MySQL 5.0 upgrade, and then trying to follow the steps in update-20060817.txt leads to mismatches (line 175 of catalog/index.php does not appear to be the same as what is listed). Wouldn't it just be easier to release a new version each time a change in the code is made? This is what all other major scripts do. Take Wordpress for example. They release new versions of Wordpress to fix even minor errors. You don't see a lot of "change line x on file y" in order to fix Wordpress. It just seems like with osCommerce, if you don't follow these forums and this community regarding osCommerce and its updates, then you are left out in the cold. I just think everyone would be better off with more frequent and official updates to the project.

Sounds like you are using a template as well. That makes updating more difficult. Wouldn't it just be easier to release a new version each time a change in the code is made? They can not issue updates speciffic to what each person has. It just seems like with osCommerce, if you don't follow these forums and this community regarding osCommerce and its updates, then you are left out in the cold. Nobody says you need to check for updates every day, but at you should check every 2 or 3 months. As far as being left out in the cold, there are plenty of people here who will help. All you need to do is ask.
