I added the Flash Carousel 3.0.1 and get error?

I added the Flash Carousel 3.0.1 from the oscommerce add ons page.

Everytime I add a product in the admin panel when i go to the live store it shows this error posted below.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: str_split() in /home/bowman5/public_html/web/DealerSite/catalog/includes/modules/flash_carousel.php on line 68

can anyone help me figure out what i did wrong or how to fix this problem.

you must have missing a section of the install.. there is a function missing somewhere

str_split() is a PHP5 function only.

If your server is running anything less it won't work.

Maybe a previous version of the contrib is PHP4 compatible instead.

If you're interested I found some code for PHP4 that mimics that function:

str_split for PHP < 5

I haven't tried any of them.

If you want to use one, copy/paste the code into your /includes/functions/general.php

Put it just BEFORE the closing PHP tag (at the bottom of the file):

David, I installed and got the same error. Here is a link to solve that problem.

I pasted in the code the way you told me but i ma still getting the exact same error.

I dont know what the problem could be.

I use in motion hosting if that helps anyone.

ok i dont know what i did wrong.

Now I am getting an error that says.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: build_xml() in /home/bowman5/public_html/web/DealerSite/catalog/includes/modules/flash_carousel.php on line 100

I cant get back to the string error i had before.

There are also boxes missing from the right side of sign in page.

Ok i figured out what was wrong with that last error.

sometimes the HEADERS ALREADY SENT is just because you left an empty space at the begining of your code or the end.. OR you have some duplicate coding that is repeated in the header.

did you look to see if one or more of the files that you edited had the blank space????

if the headers already sent is the only error you are getting, that would be one of the main causes

I only get that error when I add the code from http://www.oscommercex.com/?page_id=91 to the end of

catalog/includes/functions/flash_carousel.php that is supposed to get rid of this

it does get rid of that but then gives me that other error about the header.

listen to me carefully.. WHEN YOU ADD THAT CODE.. and you get that error, are you making ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that there is no empty space after the very last <?php tag?? This has nothing to do with header.php at all.. AND the code that you are trying to add COULD be the fix, but if you leave empty spaces before the first or after the last <?php tags, you will ALWAYS get that error..

Ok, sorry about the miscommunication.

I did add the code and made absolute sure there were no spaces.

It did get rid of all the errors. There are no more errors at all.

Here is my latest problem.

I add products in the admin panel for the Flash Carousel and it shows that it is adding them to the page.

Then when I view online Catalog there is no carousel.

There are no more errors or anything wrong on the page.

My admin panel for the carousel looks exactly as it should.

What do you think the problem is now??

you gave a ink that is password protected.. Did you do a hard refresh of the page after you added it?

Also, does your code on index.php look right?

Just make sure the "D" in Dealer is capitalized.

When I go to the index page and right click where the

carousel should be it shows me setting for flash. So it must be there but I cannot see it.

I did remove the new products option from the site a while ago.

I didnt think it would affect the carousel but maybe this could be the problem???

I know I am getting close to having the Flash carousel.

There are no more errors and when i right click where the carousel is supposed to be it shows me settings for flash.

My admin panel for the carousel works and looks as it is supposed to.

I add products to the carousel and when i view my online catalog it will not show up.

I have uploaded .gif images to all my products on a transparent background.

When the carousel picks up these images it changes the background to white instead of transparent.

These makes the carousel look very ugly, since you can see the white background blocks images as the carousel rotates.

Have a look at my site to see first hand what I'm talking about.

I dont see your carousel at all.

My carousel is doing the exact same thing.

You say your carousel is ugly but I do not even see it on the page.

This is how my carousel is.

At first I thought I installed the carousel wrong.

But now I installed it all over again and it is still doing the same thing.
