bajanboost
Whenever I try to add products to my cart or login, I get this message: We have detected that your browser does not support cookies, or has set cookies to be disabled. To continue shopping online, we encourage you to enable cookies on your browser. For Internet Explorer browsers, please follow these instructions: 1. Click on the Tools menubar, and select Internet Options 2. Select the Security tab, and reset the security level to Medium We have taken this measurement of security for your benefit, and apologize upfront if any inconveniences are caused. Please contact the store owner if you have any questions relating to this requirement, or to continue purchasing products offline. The issue with that is my browser does have cookies enabled (works on ALL other sites). It is an internal issue with my OsCommerce installation. Advice to fix? WoodsWalker
The whole thing with cookies is a bit tricky and seemingly unpredictable for us mere mortals. I have had this same experience, and had several people test my store before I advertised it - a good percentage had this happen. My solution was to go into Admin > Configuration > Sessions and set "Force Cookie Use" to False. As far as I know, this only means that users whose browsers don't support cookies will be able to use the catalogue, although they will have session IDs throughout, and may lose their cart contents if they leave the site. No biggee. Things have gone smoothly for me and my customers with this setting. Hope this helps, ~Wendy
bajanboost
Is there another work around? This has to be a glitch with my installation. I used a template from template monster, and after updating some other problems, this is the last of them. When I do a fresh install of OsCommerce (download straight from oscommerce.com) everything works great. It is something with that TemplateMonster template. Its causing cookies to give a problem and giving me that error.
WoodsWalker
Is there a reason why you wish to have "Force Cookie Use" set to "True"?
Serg007
I had a similar problem for weeks. In my case, turning cookies off was not an option becuase I use the caching feature of OSCommerece and that requires cookies. Also, this was only an issue with IE 6/7 and only with a few customers. In the end, I was able to track it down to the date and time on the customer's computer being set incorrectly. Once those customers updated the date and time the problem went away. bajanboost
My issue is not related to my computer. It has something to do with the code. There is a glitch somewhere.
