Guest Posted January 12, 2009 Share Posted January 12, 2009 Please could somebody help me!! I've spent 2 days solid trying to fix the problem but am no further forward .. at all!! This is my very first web project, and I've managed to figure out most things so far - but this has trumped me!! I give in ... I need help. My site needs to be in English and Thai. I have translated the text within the index.php file - and no problems whatsoever - it displays perfectly. When I go to enter the Thai for Category Names and Product Names, and I save the amendment in osCommerce - it just cuts off the Thai name to just leave 3 or 4 Thai characters!!?? I don't know if it's a setting in osCommerce, or something in myPHP Admin (Which completely confuses me)!! Please take pity on me and lend me a helping hand :-D My site is: www.thaishopping.co.uk and if you click on the Thai Flag you'll see the problem under Categories. Guest Posted January 14, 2009 Share Posted January 14, 2009 (edited) Can anybody help me? my site www.thaishopping.co.uk won't display that category and product names in the Thai language - it just shortens them to 4 characters ... those 4 characters are correct but it's just ignored the rest of the name and replaced it with a "$" ?? Hey Richy, I had the same problem with my hebrew website, this problem is caused because the admin section is in latin 1 charset and when you try to add new product or category it is breakdown to more then 32 characters. anyway what I did to fix it is go to the database to table name categories_description and increase the varchar Type to 255 for 32 for field name categories_name. for product name go to table products_description do the same for field name products_name.
