Hi Folks

This is my first posting in the forum, so I really hope you will be gentle and somebody can help

I have managed to install osc and even managed to get my site looking close to how I want it, but I am getting the following error on my screen which does worry me

How can I fix this please ?

Jenny

Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/citylife/public_html/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.

This is stupid

The thread says to set permissions to 644 read only

that is what they are all set at but I still get the same error

Try 0444 and if still no good 0400

This is really starting to piss me off

I have changed it 4 times - i have tried the thread you sent me, i have tried setting at 444 - but everytime I go back to change it, the thing has changed itself back to 644

PLEASE HELP - I AM TEARING MY HAIR OUT

I can tell your state of mind isn't matching your forum nickname at this point in time anyway...

:blush:

That aside, if you've been using FTP to try to alter permissions - STOP, login to your hosts cPanel and change them there.

If all else fails, you can turn the warning off (not recommended).

At the bottom of /includes/application_top.php change this code:

  define('WARN_CONFIG_WRITEABLE', 'true');

to

  define('WARN_CONFIG_WRITEABLE', 'false');

Make a backup before editing.

(If you broke it you bought it :o )

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.
