socom
Just looking at google found a page i checked on it it says my site map has a fault on it? Unsupported file format Your Sitemap does not appear to be in a supported format. ♥kymation
Your sitemap is designed for humans to read, not search engines. If you want a sitemap for Google, it needs to be in a specific XML format. I used the Google Sitemap contribution. I believe that there is at least one other contribution that does this, but I haven't tried it. Regards Jim See my profile for a list of my addons and ways to get support. web-project
few contributions are available in contribution section of this website. Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. ♥kymation
Google only accepts .xml files doesnt it? Google accepts files in the XML sitemap format. The extension is irrelevant. Google accepts and validates my sitemap files with the .php extension without problems. Regards Jim See my profile for a list of my addons and ways to get support. rs2k
Here's and example of a proper sitemap: http://www.audia4floormats.com/sitemaps.xml is a sitemap index file (A site map with sitemaps on it) and http://www.acuratlfloormats.com/smproducts1.xml is a true sitemap. Look at the different XML tags. The dynamic sitemap contribution you have makes the sitemap that I linked to above. Go to http://socomtactical.net/admin/sitemap.php and click on submit query. Make sure you also include your sitemap's FULL URL in your robots.txt file. http://www.audia4floormats.com/sitemaps.xml is the full URL for the sitemap for http://www.acuratlfloormats.com/. audia4floormats.com/sitemaps.xml or www.audia4floormats.com/sitemaps.xml does not work. I HIGHLY recommend you also get as SSL certificate. You can get them for as low as $10.

jeffmarquardt
I was looking at google Webmaster tools and noticed that I didn't have a site map listed for my site. I though the people who set up my site had taken care of this but apparently not. How or where do I make a sitemap? I'm learning as I go. thanks for any help! toneus
I use this: GSite Crawler. I've found it to be top notch. It'll crawl your site, find any errors which you can fix, create the google xml and yahoo txt files in the correct format. You can configure it to post these to Google and Yahoo automatically as well. And it's free! (Well I think there's a 5000page maximum or something) t o n e u s
jeffmarquardt
Ok. Got the program. was going through the Wizard and then......."A CUSTOM 'FILE NOT FOUND' -PAGE (SHOULD BE ERROR 404) WAS FOUND!" "PLEASE SELECT A SECTION OF THE ERROR PAGE TO USE AS A CHECK FOR ERRORS (MUST BE SOMETHING SPECIAL IN THIS PAGE). And it gives me a bunch of HTML code. I have no idea what this is even supposed to mean. What do I do now?
Jack_mcs
You should use the google sitemap contribution as already suggested (although the one by Chemo V 1.3 is the preferred one, in my opinion). Web type programs like you are trying to use won't work as needed, unless you want to continually revisit the site to recreate the maps.
