ddtech
Hi all, I have a couple of questions. I followed all of the permissions in the install guide but none of the images work on any page. Most images are showing like maybe 10% of the image horizontal, just showing a thin layer of the image. Any ideas? Also, I want to install this on my homepage. I don't want it installed at www.domainname.com/catalog. How can I set it up this way? Thanks
Guest
To do away with /catalog: when you upload oscommerce to your webserver, do not simply upload the catalog file and all its contents. Open catalog, and upload all the files within straight to your root directory In most ftp clients, this is done by highlighting everything within catalog and dragging it across to the upload window. Images: Do you mean the stocvk oscommerce images, or do you mean products images you have added? If its product images, then the chances are you have uploaded images that are far too big in file size. Optimize all your product images in a graphics or photo editor to reduce the image and file size, (re-size image tool usually).

satish
Are the values for those product images proper in data base. Are the image names having spaces or special characters. Is permission to each image proper. Are images not corrupt. Get answer to these and Yur should have images all over. ddtech
these are all the original images which oscommerce provides...shouldn't they appear after install? I noticed the image folder permissions had to be changed but do all of the sub-files need their permissions changed as well? also in my admin panel, some buttons don't apprea like the info button in my above picture
germ
The images in the picture at the first link show the classic symptoms of images FTP'd to the server in ASCII or TEXT mode. Re-FTP the images to the server but be sure the FTP program is using BINARY mode. That might fix the admin problem as well. If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. germ
Look in your /admin/includes FOLDER for a .htaccess file. If it's there, rename it to text.htaccess That may help. Satish Hi - what do you mean by "are the values for those product images proper in the data base?" Also "Is permission to each image proper?" these are newly created images which are not corrupted. One of my images has no spaces whilst the other does and is all in caps. So both cannot be not working! I don't understand what this is all about. Can you be more precise please. Thanks They could be corrupted by uploading in the wrong format. Tis best to use no spaces in the name. The one you pointed out in the other thread did have spaces. Another point is what extension is on the other files that do not display?
satish
Well when You applied an image to the product might Yuor admin code was faulty so not proper values got into the db or Your image names had some special characters. The one you pointed out in the other thread did have spaces. Another point is what extension is on the other files that do not display? Two different *.jpg files - one had spaces and was in caps. These have been used before, and indeed other images in my data base have also been uploaded correctly since my last clean install (the one you see on my website!) All this just happened suddenly. The only difference now is that my server was playing ducks and drakes with my relocating from the root directory to the shop directory. This relocation is only temporary, as I will be putting another site before this so that my customers can then click on a link to the shop after the introduction to the other services I will have availalble. I am at a complete loss as to think what this is. Thanks for your help, I will keep slogging away and try different solutions. Unconditional Love Makes The World Turn. Satish Well, this is great! Please read the reply I gave Coopco. My images worked before, not now. I don't understand this. I have checked my permissions. I presume they should be atleast 755 or 777! Well, I have done this and still, it is not working. Is there something that I'm missing? Perhaps something in my admin? I don't know. What I do know is that I have checked these files and one which has no spaces and is all in lower case cannot be corrupted as I can upload it for another part of my web site. If it were corrupted I would not be able to get it seen anywhere! N'est pas? what should the admin code be that you refer to please? Thanks for your help Unconditional Love Makes The World Turn. Eg, some are looking for http://spiritconnections.com.au/GiftShoppe/images/ReiKi.jpg instead of (I assume) http://spiritconnections.com.au/GiftShoppe/images/reiki fire.jpg There is no ReiKi.jpg in the location given. My sincere and grateful thanks to all those who gave me heaps of useful information for this matter. It has taken over a week to try to sort it and now it is as simple as the morons at my server copying my complete catalog folder into another folder without telling me and redirecting my web site to it. So I have been uploading all my images to another folder whilst fully believing that I am uploading to the correct one! I jumped from the fryng pan and into the fire it seems with servers. No worries, I will get my pound of flesh yet (even if it has to be in the here-after.... So now all is well. Just have to add new images from my File Zilla! As far as edumacating my partner to not include spaces in his image names, this will be a gradual learning curve. Thanks for the helpful advice. It is really appreciated! :) Unconditional Love Makes The World Turn. When we stop and smell the flowers, we can all live instead of merely existing.
