I'm Cursed - SSL problems again

This is the 4th installation I've done and I've run into this problem everytime except when SSL is turned off.

I'm using Shared SSL, OSCommerce 01212003 snapshot, Paypal IPN Installed, Tracking info, etc

What happens is I can access the site without problems: login, checkout, create account with/without SSL.

After I completed the Paypal IPN installation a couple days ago, I noticed that when I try to checkout, create account and login - I receive an error message stating that the SSL certificate does not match the server domain. This message seems to be bogus because it was working in earlier. I checkout out the board and cannot find a solution. I rebooted, cleared cache, everything. Nothing worked. The following day, I tried again and the site was working without problems.

Now, I backup up the site and worked on other things. Everything ran smoothly. Last night, I installed the tracking_html contribution. No problems last night. Did full testing and no problems.

Earlier today, everything again was working. Then I had a friend test it out. The same time, I went to the site and tried to make a purchase. Once I clicked the check_out page (SSL protected), back to the nightmare. I get the error message, again. He can access the site without problems - and he did not encounter any problems

At first I thought it was due to the database changes because this problem only seems to show up when I install a mod which requires database changes. Then I reinstalled cleanly - after the initial install - no problems. I installed Paypal and that's when everything starting getting funky.

Something else I noticed - I access the page twice because if I look at the values in Who's Online, I show up twice. My ip is listed 2ce, the 2 other unique ips. When I waited for the sessions to expire, I was still getting that error message.

Also, I have verified with my webhoster that the SSL cert is okay. I have even dnsed the ssl cert and my domain, they both match.

My other guess was maybe it's a session problem - I've seen several posts for Ian's SID killer - unfortunately it's very choppy.Nothing clean to work with - I can't figure out what people are supposed to do.

Does anyone know what's going on? Also, if someone else tries to access the site, it works for them but not me.

On yea, I'm on winxp/

I just dns'ed the secure server again and the ip address is different from the results I received a couple days ago.

Is it normal for ssl server ip addresses to change? I'm guessing this could be the root of the problem. I entered the server name, not ip address, in my configure files and my guess is since I'm using the same pc the old ssl server information is stored in cache somewhere.

Well, it's not stored in my browser cache because I already deleted cache.

Is it possible to fix this by adding meta refresh tags to those .php pages?

Any ideas?

Ok...here's something weird. When I dns the server from my XP pc, I get one ip address. When I dns from my linux pc, I get a different ip address.

This is getting too weird for me. One thing tho - when I created database, I used 'localhost' as server.

Should I drop database and recreate or can I change configure file?

Thanks.

Okay, I'm taking to myself but who cares :)

Maybe this might help other people, but I doubt it - they don't call me badjuju for nothing.

For whatever reason, when I dns from my pc, i get one ip address. From another - i get a different ip addy.

Simple solution (I hope): Get the SSL ip address from your webhoster - use than in configure.php files.
